A typical weekday afternoon...

Yes, that is a very typical weekday at home for me. The boys would be playing excitingly with each other or with Caramale, but when it comes to doing revision or homework, that would really sap their energy! Especially when doing Chinese homework, Jonah would begin to yawn and tilt slowly to his side and end up lying on 2 chairs complaining he is ever so tired.....

How do you motivate your kids to work hard?

I don´t have the answer for your question, but I can tell you this: Sometimes we can ONLY teach with examples. I used to work as a teacher, and examples worked most of the time. Teaching our kids how to be responsible, may be one of the big challenges we have to face. Good luck, and please share your recipe with us!!!

Hi Euphoria,

Thank you for visiting :) Yes, I must agree with you about teaching the kids by examples. I find being firm and persistant about rules is also useful! And yes, I will visit your blog again as I love your paintings :D Looking forward to see more.

I get my boys to do their learning first thing after breakfast, and the 'carrot' is a full day of fun and playing once the work is done and out of the way. It usually helps and they can't complain that they are tired since they would have woken up not long ago. If this isn't possible, I do the same in the afternoon (after school) so they know to look forward to an evening of FUN!
